ummmmmm, just get some 15" x 7" rims and some 23.5" x 8" slicks. Mid 13's to possibly low 13's for about $500. Plus you can use them along with all your other mods that you get afterwards. Honestly, get them. They will make your other mods useful at the track. Otherwise be prepared to spend a lot of time in the low 14's and high 13's if you suck at driving.
That is my recommendation. I wish I hadn't waited so long to get slicks but not that I have them I will never drag race without them. Without them is useless to me.
Then get a FM wga for $135 and raise your boost up a bit. get a wide band, mapclamp, aeroforce scangauge, and TBE.
^^ agreed... I hope i'll be in the mid 13's next time I'm at the track with the mods in my sig...
Yup, not picking on you at all so please don't think I am, but this is a perfect example of why I say rims and tires.
A stock SRT-4 with a really good driver can pull off a 13.8 My friend did this at the same track I go to.
Now with Stage 2 w/toys and the Toybox 2.0 (so DAB and HOM is available), 3" downpipe, Borla Catback 2.5", and FM wga you should be easily able to run mid 13's. I mean you are talking about a difference of 50 whp and 30-50 ft lbs of torque with HOM on. There is no reason you couldn't do mid to low 13's.
But I bet your issue is traction with that much torque. That is where Slicks or at least DR's come into play. They are well worth the money to improve your track times. They are probably the best thing you can purchase to improve your times and keep your times improving. You will use them with every other mod you put on your car and allow you to effectively use those mods at the track instead of just spinning tires and getting wheel hop.
Good luck at the track next time though. I will keep my fingers crossed for ya.
^^^^^ I'm with him on this one....anyone can shift 2-3 and 3-4 but if you're putting out some decent power your 1st and 2nd gear will be terrible because of wheelspin. If you're kind of hesitant just find someone in your area with some slicks or DRs and see if they'll let you borrow them for a pass. That should make up your mind about traction right there.
