Default SRT4 Roll Cage?

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone would recommend a solid place to order a cage from? I guess I'm looking for a 6 point cage, although I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Nate

I had DCR get my cage done while it was at their shop. You probably only need a 6 point cage unless you plan on going pretty fast. You can always upgrade it in the future if necessary. The cage tightens up the car to the max and will almost make it feel like a go-kart if you have a good suspension. Make sure when they are building it they allow for the seat to be adjusted. My harness bar behind the seat is a little bit tight to the seat which limits mobility. You pretty much lose the back seat when you do this also.

If you want a "live-able" cage, I would go full custom. Mine is tight arounnd the car and I have FULL use of my back seat (when it's installed).

I could have mine adjusted so that I could use the backseat too but I am really not that worried about it. I really don't drive mine much anyway and all my supplies for the track still fit in the car. I could also have the harness bar remade so that the seat is a little bit more adjustable.

And after all the "adjustments" , you spent almost as much and it isn't nearly as neat or unified as a built from scratch cage.

My $0.02.

Thanks for the recommendations. How much did each of your respective cages cost?

Mine was $1150 and I am sure there was a mark-up on the original price. You cage is nice 1lap. You have any pictures of where it goes through the rear deck? Is it made of moly tubing? Also the price of metal is rising daily so the price 1lap paid or the price I paid may now be higher now.

It's Grand Am spec 1.75" DOM. It goes through the deck inside the "LATCH" holes. It even still has the outer trim ring on the holes.

I am almost 6' tall and I can sit in the rear seat and only a minor tilt of the head is needed if I want to wear a seat belt. Shorter (~5'8" and below) people don't even have to tilt their head (until the 850 lb springs meet up with a bump in the road).

Mine was done in Feb of 2006.... Prices have raised a bit since then...

For those without kids...."LATCH" are those clips used for baby seats, under the little plastic covers on the rear deck behind the "headrests".
