I need to get the stinking 3rd gear problems fixed on mine. I'll probably take it up to Woodhouse and let them work on it. I don't know that I'll ever walk into Baxter here in Omaha again. A-hole liars.

myth, the srt-4 has a weak trans. false, this trans was first used in a commercial van, it is very strong.
fact. the root cause of all of the srt's trans trouble is the poor desing of the clutch release system, the clutch never fully disengages, this causes the trans speed not to slow down enough for the gears to mesh when shifting. all of the bent shift forks, burned syncros, and exploded flywheels are a result of the clutch not being fully disengaged, it's like trying to shift without using the clutch.
everytime your setting at a stop light with the car in gear and the clutch pushed, it's draging ever so slightly, heating up the flywheel and clutch. if it gets hot enough, the flywheel breaks.
the clutch release arm literally eats it's self up at the 2 pivot points, after a short time the clutch can no longer fully disengage, causing drag and creating hard shifting, of course we then start jamming it into gear, breaking the snap ring, syncros and bending the shift forks.
the only cure for this is to go with a hydraulic throw out bearing, eliminating the release arm altogether. nemo sells a system like this, for those in the know, you can peice one together for yourself from stock parts from an early 90's jeep for a lot less money.
