Default SRT-4 Clutch Problems. Report yourself here.

Ok guys , it seems that we have 2 threads going about the clutch issues on the srt-4 ( although this doesn't surprise me though that the first thing to give away is the clutch. luckly its not the tranny)

I need you to report on this thread the following :

Your nick
Symptoms of the car
Times you taken it to the dealership
Has the problem been resolved

If you have a symptomatic feeling your clutch is going to be giving out.

Report the following :

What are the symptoms of the car now.
Has it gotten worst.

Now once we get about 15 cars or so. I will prepare a letter and reference it to this thread in specific.

I will sticky this for everyone.

So far the clutch seems to be fine for me.......but it does make a slight "knock" when I change gears. It's weird, I engage the clutch, select gear, and when I release the clutch and it goes into gear there is a very slight noise I hear. I've never heard anything like this on my '96, and i've trashed the hell out of it and the clutch has lasted 107K miles (needs replaced now). This happens during any type of driving, ie, like grandma or very 'spirited'. Not sure if it's normal or what, but it happens 50% of the time. I have not yet taken it to a dealer (because most of them are ignorant about the srt4) but I might do it if the noise persists.

edit: oops, I forgot the format......

clunk during shifts. noise when engage/disengage in neutral. shifter rattles in 3rd. during somewhat hard driving, clutch pedal vibrates and feels different than normal when shifting. if i put it to the floor and let back off a few times, the vibration clears up.

took it to dealer once, they basically said i was nuts. said the vibration was the shifter's fault, sprayed it with wd-40 and gave me the keys back. i have since replaced it with the mopar short throw and it still vibrates.

problem is not resolved and feels as if it is getting worse. number of times that i have to engage/disengage clutch to clear vibration has increased. when i first noticed the vibration, it took a WOT run into third to show up. now it seems to do it even under moderately quick driving, ~10 psi of boost or so in any gear.

7800 miles. first noticed all this around 3000.

Thank god I'm not the only one, I thought I was going nuts one day, my car too has that "knock" when I shift, even when I granny drive. My shifter does not seem to vibrate like your guys'. My shifter does vibrate but only if I like attempt to pull it out of gear without the clutch the shifter will slightly vibrate. I've had no problems with my srt, 2,000 miles and counting.

I have the vibration and the clunking as well. I took the car to the dealership and the technician drove it a couple of miles and said he couldnt fint anything wrong but they marked it as a concern. I have to take the car back next week for them to replace my CD player, so I am going to make them drive it again.

Clunking when I release the clutch, small vibration in the pedal.

Been to 2 different dealerships and both say they cant find anything wrong.

No resolution yet

I posted this a while back - ever since I have owned my car, I have heard a 'clunk' when shifting from a stop or slow speeds. It's probably there at high speeds, too, but I can't hear it. I can sit with my car off and push in the cluth and hear it 'clunk' everytime.

Most people have come back saying it is nothing, just a mechanical noise of the metal tapping.

I do not get the vibration on the shifter that others are getting.

B4UTRUST
Clutch burnt, possibly stuck in 1st or 2nd gear though unlikely. Dealership won't look at car to tell me.

Taken to the Dealership on the 16th of August.
Issue has not been resolved.

Vibration in pedal just like others, but only when I push in clutch slowly. Can feel it even when car is off. Feels more like a grinding.

No shifter vibration, no noise.

Dealer says it's some bushings in the clutch assembly that is causing it and I'm taking it in on thursday to have whatever bushings they are talking about replaced. They tell me it's not the clutch itself though. Hope it's fixed, cause I wanna start installing all the crap I have sitting here.

8300 miles.

I have had problems with my clutch as well. I do have the knocking noise, but once in a while when I go to shift the gears don't even line up and I get a horrific grinding until I reengage the clutch and try shifting again. At first I thought that I was crazy but then I had a witness in the car, he was driving. It also will have the tendency to stick between gears. I thought that it was just because it was brand new, but that excuse wore out a long time ago. I took it to the dealer, and after convincing them that it was my car, they basicly drove it around the block and said "well we did not have that problem, so it must just be you" So now I am just waiting for it to happen again so that I can keep taking it back.

Ditto on all infor above (minus personal info). Mine does the same thing, except when I listen closely I can hear it in hight gears, just barely though. No vibration though.

I also have not taken it in.
No resolution if I haven't taken it in.
