Default To raise the car, or not to raise the car?

Well, I am sitting on BC coilovers right now. Car is lowered. And I was thinking about raising it for winter time. (Height is adjustable) I live out in Kansas, we average close to 2 feet of snow annually. Was curious if it would be a good idea to raise the car up, or leave it lowered. I personally don't like the raised look, and having to get the car aligned afterwards. But if it benefits underneath the car better and makes the front end less like a shovel, I will be happy and consider it.

This is how the car sits now with the winter wheels and tires:

Any personal opinions regarding your car and what you do would be great.

*If your state does not get snow, please don't respond.*

But... If you don't have another car, definitely raise it. Hell, if you have a cold air intake, I would leave it raised and drop during the summer months... I know how it rains out there in kansas, I lived in wichita.

Why would you say that? The SRT-4 is fun in the snow.

If you're only raising or adjusting the height slightly, you shouldn't need to get an alignment. The only thing it will effect is the camber, and only slightly, and camber doesn't ruin tires unless it's very very extreme. Caster and toe are the tire ruiners, and they won't be effected by changing the height.

Whats up man? I would raise it, the stock stance with that factory rake looks great. Although your car looks pretty badass as is.

Well we had a 110" of snow in Madison WI last year. I have Tein type s drop springs. The SRT4 was bad ass in the snow. Had a storm that shut down some of the highways around here. I made 3 sales calls that day with no problem. I also have 205/65/15 snow tires and 15" steel wheels.

When i go coilovers in Spring I will be raising my car every winter. Might was well. Its only going to make things better. Also get a 3 year or lifetime alignment at Tires Plus or some place like that. That way you down need to pay everytime you get an alignment.

Whats up 7055, not sure if I met you before. I see it says you are from Kansas. Check out the Great plains section, nice big thread for the KC Mo people.

Yes I can get it aligned for free. I have the 3 year agreement via National Tire and Battery. Theres a classmate of mine that works at one, and he says they only get $6 to align a vehicle under that warranty. So I will probably give him a $20 for his trouble. =)

I have really good winter tread. Hankook Icebear W300.

Would probably be a good idea to raise it up though.

Has anyone raised up their car if they are on coilovers? How much higher do you go? I am guessing 1.5'' in the front 2'' in the back.

Oh yea I remember yah! What have you been up to? We have had quite a few SRT-4 meets this summer/fall.

Anyone have more input if I should raise it or not? I mean, what are the dissadvantages of having it low during winter?

Im from Canada and we get about 45478594 feet of snow from november to april...i just put on my winter wheels today and raised the car. I am on megan racing coilovers. Im not even joking when i say this but my car raised is a bit lower than yours lowered in the above pic...because i had a pretty big drop where i was tucking all around. I HATE the stock height look so i decided to raise it up only about an inch. There is a one finger gap all around, should be enough to clear the snow...if its really bad il take my dads or brothers car.

In fact on wednesday it snowed here and we got about 6-7 cm...i drove it slammed with summer tires...wow what an experience the tires were awful in the snow i had absolutely NO traction....but i found an empty parking lot with a nice layer of snow and had some serious fun

The car looks like it would ride just fine as is. Throw some nice snow tires on there and you're good to go!

You must of missed out on the pictures of the snow tires I posted....

I won't raise it. If it gets bad and I don't like the driveability I will raise it up.
