Now that I read this thread, I think my gas gauge is not accurate as well.

And I say this because I remember driving home from work one time with the Scan Gauge reading ZERO gallons left and my gas light NEVER flashed. In fact I've never been able to get it to flash.

Although, like clock work when it hits 1.5 gallons the light and chime hit.

Half a tank gets me 55 miles.

Mine does the same thing, 1.5 gallons, it will chime and light up. However once it hits 0 (on the scan gauge) it takes a few seconds, but it will start flashing, and bitching at you.. lol Park the car on a hill, trust me.. it'll get pissed! lol

Will.

One technique of driving to help better your fuel economy is called "pulse and glide". Google it to find out more about it. After I found out about the technique last week, I hit 30.8 mpg just going to/from work. Before learning about pulse and glide, I was getting 25-27 mpg going to/from work. My commute to work is 29 miles each way and it is mainly on a highway but it is littered with at least ten traffic lights. When I head to work (6:30 P.M.), I encounter traffic. On my way home from work (4:00 A.M.), there is no traffic but only the traffic lights to deal with. This is on a full weight (and then some) S3 car.

For the OP... reset your ECU... your fuel trims are screwed up probably...

As for the gas gauge stuff... Light comes on when there is only 3 gallons left and flashes when 1 gallon is left... atleast that what it says in my 04's manual and I test twice a week on my daily 110mile commute.

I had the same problem with my car when i first got it then i checked the pipes and found one had a leak may want to double check and see if you are not leaking any boost. when the car is underboosting your motor is working to hard. remember with out the turbo its just a piece of crap. i got beat by a plymoth neon when i no boost at all lol i was getting like 18 i was getting sick of it. but fixed my leak and i was getting a average with some occasional boosting of 24 but when i went to oregon i got 32 mpg that was so good made it there with gas to spare on one tank. running on 94 octane. only 94 for some reason my car ran better with the higher grade. and remember each car is different. none the same.
