Default Ok I have to ask

Ok before anyone says anything I have been a member for awhile now but I don't own an Srt4, just kinda been interested in them for a long time.

Well the time has come to where I might buy one, but..

I would like to know if the people that are having problems with these cars are modified? Seems like almost everyone here is modifiied. I've gotten out of those days (sorta) and trying to find a stock one. I would rest assured to know if left alone (good maintenance) that these cars would be reliable?

There are TONS of daily threads with problems, seems a few people are getting rid of there's also.

^^^true.
Ive had my car since mid 05 and had 26000 miles on it. It now has over 70K with nothing other than a new boost leak. The shocks are sqeeking in the rear now, but if you treat it good, it should return the favor. I love mine.

I found one with slight mods.. FMIC, rims, and a No2 kit that wasnt even set up right. Just a bottle with a line ran. Seeing as how it was never sprayed on and the fact that the rims had to go ( they were ugly and too big) I had no issues. The fmic is just a good idea imo

Its only when you put ghetto shit on the car instead of the reliable products. Its when you cheap out is when you blow your motor up. If you want your car to last longer dont put garbage ass bootleg get you by with power parts. Its not good in the longrun.

And when you see something arise like a small problem its always best to take care of it then and there not later on down the line. More and more problems add up when you dont take action soon enough ontime. If you wish to know more pm me I will lead you in the right direction on what to look for when you need to buy an srt4 and the shit you need to watch out for before you buy it and after you take a testrun before you sign on the dotted line.

Of course they're reliable when they're treated right. Even abused I still think they're decently reliable.

I don't know where you get that idea unless it is from reading this section of the forum, but you need to take that with a grain of salt, if people have a problem they come here to post about it looking for help, that doesn't mean every SRT owner out there is posting here, just those WITH problems.

Problems with the SRT-4 can be broken down as follows:

75% of the problems = incorrect installation of a part, incorrect modification of the car in some way.

20% of the problems = abusing the car while failing to maintain proper upkeep.

5% of the problems = actual valid issues that are of no fault of the owner/previous owner.

And if you've heard that the SRT has TONS of problems on another forum, then that's just straight up bullshit, jealous crybaby a-holes will say anything about the 'neon' to a) try to make the car look bad and b) to make up in some way for their own self/cars inadequacies.

my bone stock 05 acr seems to be in great shape, 66000kms.

turbo spools to 15psi and holds around 11/12 to redline just as designed still.
Runs like a champ. Starts cold with no more than 3 or 4 turn overs.

Have a strange tiny water leak from under the passanger side dash, but thats it.

Only owned this one for a month tho, still dealing with cosmetic issues.

well put shadow.. and the threads you see here in this section are from the 75% that dont know what they are doing.. unfortunetly teaching most of these people how to do things the right way is almost as bad as beating a dead horse..

This is the only site related to Srt4's I goto. Just wanted to make sure, I was very impressed by the power of this car for the price and just wanted to leave it alone, maybe a stage 2 later if I get bored enough. I don't have the skill to replace a whole engine that's why I ask, I can do routine maintenance fine though.

Only problem I've had with mine is I overpowered the axles and they started to make the car shimmy (sp?). So I took it in for warranty work and they replaced both CV axles. Mind you I have an early 2004 model which probably had the older 2003 model axles which were weaker than newer 2004 models. Other than that no problems. 42k miles, driven fairly hard everyday.
