Question nothing but problems yesterday

i just bought the car 2 weeks ago. 04 srt-4. it first started with the turbo fluttering when ever i let off the gas. then i realized that pink wire that connects to the soloniod and the bypass valve has come off under pressure. so i zip tied it back on and now the flutter is hardly there. i only hear it under low boost. under higher boost i only hear the "PSSSS" of the turbo. i guesss a little flutter is ok.

then on the way home. when i hit the gas hard the boost gauge just maxed out and the turbo went nuts. when i got home i noticed that the black hose that connects to the back of the turbo had blown off. when i connected it back on the car was running great. im now running around 16 psi stock with only a CAI installed.

my question is: With the way the turbo overacted when the hose popped off, do i have to worry about anything if it blew way too much boost? It seems to running ok now.

doesnt sound like you need to worry much.. but i would go over your engine bay thoughroughly and zip tie all your vac lines and make sure everythings nice and tight

Question

ok it was only worrying me cause my buddy blew his engine when his boost controller broke and over boosted he engine. i just hope the hose blowing off the turbo and over boosting things wouldn't be similar to what happened to him.

I second that, how new to turbo'd cars are you? (not a flame, just asking)

1st: Zip tie everything thats a VAC line. Red, White, Blue, Black, Green lines. (All terminate at the 3 'noids attached to your stock air box.)

2nd: take a few pics of your engine bay, this will help you later on when you start moving and changing lines. Keep them safe and make sure they are dtailed.

3rd: start reading here, start with the stickies and the How-To forum. DO NOT MAKE ANY MODIFICATIONS you dont understand!!! You can hurt things without knowledge.

4th: ask questions, and put on a thick skin we have our share of asshats here just like any other site on the net. We also have our fair share of very helpful people! (some of the best on any car site I've ever belonged to)

Just my advice.

I agree with the zip ties. You will also notice less boost leak.

You have come to the right place though bro. If anyone starts being an ass cause you ask a dumb question in their eyes just let it blow over.

no it was a black rubber vacuum line. it blew off. and i had maxed out my boost gauge. Is that hurtful to the car? if you look at the vacuum diagram on the hood its the only one going to the turbo. i believe from the blue soliniod

The Vac Lines that are located in Solenid #2 are your turbo and wastegate vac lines. The black one goes to the wastegate while the green one goes to the turbo. The green line, per the solenoid, is on top of the black line.......

solenoid #2
Slot #1: Green line (turbo)
Slot #2: Black line (wastegate)
Slot #3: Open (vent to atmosphere)

Hope this helps

Pom, can you take some pick of your Vac lines? Maybe we can get ahold of whats what on your set-up. It appears that someone has already had a hand in your stock set-up and it's no longer stock.

One good tip is to get ahold of some colored Vac lines. I didnt and now wish I had, it's a PITA to trace them all back. I used all black and well they all now look the same (sadpanda).

Take those pics and post'em here and we can photoshop them to show you what used to be what color. This will help you.

Sounds to me like you might have your lines run different than stock. Are you using the stock wastegate? You can tell by checking if it has threads on it for adjusting. Secondly, do you have an intake? That could be what that fluttering sound your hearing is(sounds like a horse).

Sorry man didn't mean to confuse you. Sounds like your VAC lines are not stock, which is not a big deal. It would really be beneficial to us in further helping you out if you were able to capture a picture of the engine and the VAC lines. Doing so will let us all see what your set up is so we can further see what we are dealing with. All the best
