oil squirters in the lower half of the cylinder. From what I understand as the piston goes up the squirters squirt oil onto the cylinder walls. Then as the piston comes down, one of the piston rings (the lowest one) scrapes the excess oil off the wall back down into the oil pan. Alot of oil usually does not get burned up in the cylinder unless your rings are fried and do not seal well and oil gets past it higher up to where the burning is occurring.
Yeah but not all cars have oil squirters. But thats pretty BA if thats how the SRT accomplishes it but I thought that it only sprayed oil to cool the pistons when under boost?
hhhhmmmmmmmmmm, not that I know of. My knowledge isn't extensive enough to give you a good answer on that unfortunately. I do know that it does have oil squirters though.
I am just getting into the understanding part of the internals of an engine myself. This link will give you some information on the SRT-4 engine and internal parts. Hope it helps.
