Muffler design is driven primarily by federal noise and emissions requirements. I'm sure the SRT4 had to meet federal EPA standards otherwise they wouldn't be on the road.

I live in slc and got a ticket for no muffler. I had my DP open. If you only had one and you got it in SLC, they will let you off for 25 bucks. Or you can just find an EPA place and have them noise decibel test it.
