First of all I want to thank Adam from Leopoles Concepts for all his help with trying to solve my car issue. It is great to live so close and to be friends with one of the most knowledgeable SRT-4 guys on the forum.
Here is whats happing. I have noticed that CD changer and Mopar ipod integration kit was not working correctly so I pulled the radio, changer, and ipod kit and hooked it back up. Now when I try to start my car it starts but shuts off in 2 seconds. Even if I try to give it gas it still shuts off. We tested fuel pressure and the my fuel pump was not putting out much pressure at all and it was not steady stream so we swapped the pump with a new Walbro and the car ran fine for a day as well as my changer and ipod kit. Then the ipod kit and changer stopped working again when I went to start the car again it did the same thing. It tried to turn over a few times then it would not ever turn at all. I unhooked the changer and ipod kit (both changer and kit connect to a multilplexer and that plugs into the back of the radio) and then the car started fine.
I know this is a weird issue and hope someone can help. Here what we have already tried.
-no codes
-installed new fuel pump
-checked all important relays (starter, etc) and all seem fine.
-installed new battery (needed one anyways)
-tried both keys and car did the same thing (rule out SKIM)
-voltage from alternator is 13.4 to 13.6
-we can hear the new pump prime when we turn the key
My question is can a short in the changer/ipod kit cause the car to shut down? Does anyone know the purpose of the "Shut down" relay under the hood? Right now the changer/ipod kit is unplugged and the car has started fine for the last few hours (I have been going out to start it every few hours).
maybe somehow the radio, changer, and ipod kit are drawing power from the fuel pump.
test the voltage at the fuel pump with everything installed.
i dont see many other possibilities that arent very out there
I should specify that when the car shuts down it does not sputter or anything. It just shuts off. When the car does start normally (stays running for more than 2-3 seconds) the car will stay running until I shut the car off. I did locate my ipod kit in a remote location and it is in a tight spot. Maybe there is a frayed wire(s) due to the stretching of the cables too far that is interfering with the ignition.
With the car starting and then shutting off after two seconds I have a good idea. Have you recently had a key made or anything for your car. Chrystlers anti-theft system they put in srt-4's only not in any other neon basically reads resistance from the key so it knows its you trying to start the car. Sounds like that is the problem. Next time you start is see if your security light flashes, the red light above the fuel gauge.
If you had a key made at a hardware store or something wont work. You have to get a chipped key.
If not your anti-theft system might be bad.
Also there are wires going from your key cylinder to the theft system. If they are grounded out of severed that could be your problem but I guarantee thats your issue

Both keys I have are original. I have never had one made. If it was the security issue then wouldn't throw a skim cel? My red light does not flash at all.
naw the skim usually doesnt throw codes. Ive been professionally installing car electronics for almost 5 years and when coming in contact with this problem while installing remote starts. sounds like anti theft, idk thats my two cents. you said the wires for your ipod cable pulled on your ignition wires, check all the wires there should be some smaller gauge wires that go to the skim check em.

I do have a compustar remote start but I have not used it in a while (just need to reprogram the remote). Also, can the compustar disable my security system? My red light on my dash does not flash occasionally anymore. I have had the remote start for years and have not had any issues.
I think that maybe the cable from my ipod/changer (both oem) were stretched a little to far and maybe wacking out the pcm signals. Is the skim under the top dash panel or under the knee panel?
The skim is under the top of the dash above the radio. The remote start could be playing havoc of the oem anti theft, since the remote start had to be interfaced into the anti theft system that module might have lost programming causing the car to not start its kinda like this on a remote start
Compustar system have a tendency to do that, I like any DEI products...Viper..Python so on always work perfect.
The factory alarm has also got to be interfaced in for an aftermarket alarm--keyless---rem strt to also control it. I have an alarm I put on mine and basically in order for the alarm to control the factory alarm resistors have to used to control the door locks and arming the factory alarm, and to disarm also has to go through resistors and unlock has to be double pulsed to disarm the factory alarm.
100% of the effectiveness of any security and convenience system is the installation.

I did notice that my red light does not flash on my dash anymore. I think I am going to remove the remote start anyways bc I don't use it anymore. I should just be able to remove the remote start componets and hopefully the factory alarm should work again.
