I got pulled over on the Las Vegas strip in the middle of the road by bicycles... *sigh*.. red light and radio is faster than the SRT or else I would of booked it. Long story short these 2 bike cops where just ridining around parked traffic at a light and a cab cut me off and I honked my horn.. and they 'pulled me over'. Mother fuckers..
$80- License Plate Cover (smoked)
$80- Exhaust Modified to make Noise
I just paid it all and said fuck it. I just don't go down on the strip anymore.. i take the back and side roads.

Dude I swear if I ever get a ticket for exhaust modified to make noise...come hell or high water...I will take it to court. I'm going to be very professional about it but I'm going to ask them for a reference for their ticket. At the very least I will make that cop look like an ass
Here in miami if they wanna be dicks they can give you a ticket fot "altered exhaust" no matter how quiet it is.. if it didnt come with the car they can give you a ticket for it... now thats ....

next time I get a ticket I will.
except my exhaust is 3" no cat. But with running the light business I dont get much free time.
But CPK did get me out of my speeding ticket down to a parking ticket.. they f'n RULE!
gotta love Ohio...bout the few tickets i have gotten in my car by the state police, they have asked if my exhaust was stock and i would say "no sir" and they wouldn't even care. even though i have a 3 inch side exit with no cat..basically if you are respectful to them they do the same to you. because each time the could have given me a ticket for no cat and excessive noise. most the cops ive ran into are pretty cool.
Ohio FTW. There's only one 'burb that I've ever had even the slightest issue in, and it's Cleveland Heights (also the only Cleveland suburb with a 27 car traffic fleet dedicated to giving tickets out for going 27 in a 25 and such). I've only ever been pulled over for an exhaust issue once, and that was in my old 2nd GEN Eclipse. The cop said "Damn this thing is loud! Hit the throttle for me. (I tap the gas) Shit. That's loud man. You gotta do something about that." And then he got in his car and drove off. Plus, cops around here seem to actually like the NSRT-4. I've actually had compliments on my car from at least 3 different cops.
So to all of you with issues in your state I say, come to Ohio, the land of fat people and no jobs.

Yea Ohio is great i have a 3in DP no can and mopar and i have never had a cop take a second look at my car for noise. I also drove my 73 charger with straight headders for a week and passed cops several times and never got pulled over.

The cops out here really dont fuck with people all that much when it comes to srt-4s it depends on which area and how ticket hungry they are along what time of day its on. Because a majority of them are assholes or rookie bitches.

A couple of local guys here have been getting nabbed for modified exhaust tickets. There has been some on going discussion as to what is legal and isn't in terms of exhaust systems here in Nevada. We cant seem to find anything saying "you can't modify your exhaust". There is no specific definition of a muffler in the State of Nevada for a vehicle. There is one for a motorcycle specifically only. If this is the case, I would think the Federal Laws and the Code of Federal Regulations would imply:
Title 49 CFR
Sec. 325.91 Exhaust systems.
A motor vehicle does not conform to the visual exhaust system
inspection requirements, 40 CFR 202.22, of the Interstate Motor Carrier
Noise Emission Standards, if inspection of the exhaust system of the
motor vehicle discloses that the system--
(a) Has a defect which adversely affects sound reduction, such as
exhaust gas leaks or alteration or deterioration of muffler elements,
(small traces of soot on flexible exhaust pipe sections shall not
constitute a violation of this subpart);
(b) Is not equipped with either a muffler or other noise dissipative
device, such as a turbocharger (supercharger driven by exhaust gases);
or
(c) Is equipped with a cut-out, by-pass, or similar device, unless
such device is designed as an exhaust gas driven cargo unloading system.
1. Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent emissions greater than those allowed by rules and regulations established by the Department. No person shall use a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device upon a motor vehicle on a highway.
2. The engine and power mechanism of every motor vehicle shall be so equipped and adjusted as to prevent the escape of excessive fumes or smoke.

This section is funny because cops will issue "exhaust modified to make noise" tickets, yet there is NEVER an instance of any sound measuring going on...
Noise Emission Standards
NAC 484.150 Noise emission standards for operators of vehicles. (NRS 484.6101)
1. No person may operate either a motor vehicle or combination of vehicles of a type subject to registration at any time or under any condition of grade, load, acceleration or deceleration in such a manner as to exceed the following noise limit for the category of motor vehicle based on a distance of 50 feet from the center of the lane of travel within the speed limits specified in this subsection:
Under 35 mph: 76dba
Over 35 mph: 82dba
