well..long story short I have a hood thats been repainted twice already and the paint keeps bubbling around the duct in the front. The paint shop said its the cars fault for getting to hot and I find that highly unlikely. So what could be causing it to bubble? I plan on bringing it somewhere else to get painted but don't want to have the same problem.
i work at a paint shop and to me that sounds like a couple of things, thats deff lack of prep work, shitty primer ,lack of primer or cheap primer and paint might not have enough paint on it

^^ exactly...i would lean more towards lack of prep work/shitty primer

The hood doesn't even get hot there, warm yes, hot no. I'd sue them in small claims court for a lemon job..fuck that.

Yeah I figured they just had no idea what the hell they were doing. I only payed for it once but I'm going to see if those assholes will reinburse me the differance. I have a feeling they are going to give me a hard time though.
I had the EXACT same problem with my hood. It got painted 4 times before they could figure out why it kept bubbling around the scoop. It got to the point where I had reps from BASF come out and take samples of the paint to see what the problem was. They ended up stripping everything off the hood down to the E-coat then re-sprayed it and I haven't had a problem since. If I remember correctly, the problem was that it takes a heavy base coat (at least on OB) and since it wasn't adhering to the primer it wasn't completely dry before they sprayed the other coats of base/clear. Thus causing the paint to bubble up after being subject to heat. You also have to leave the plastic inset out for a few weeks to make sure it cures properly.
You have to go back to the same place though. Don't accept a half-ass job on their part. Make sure they strip the hood though, if not they're gonna keeping painting over paint which is going to cause the exact same problem.

Had this same problem with my bumper. Had it painted 6 month ago due to an accident. Over the winter it started to bubble & chip.
I took it back to the shop & found out that they didn't strip the whole bumper back down before they painted it. Then they found out it had 3 coats of paint on it (1 from them & 2 coats from the factory). All those layers didn't help (the last 2 pics are the underside of the bumper- you can see the original paint still underneath).
This time I had them take it all the way down & do it right.
