Default Limp mode

What can cause a car to go into limp mode? What are some symptoms of the car being in limp mode? How can you reset things if the car did go into limp mode? Thanks guys!

overboost is the biggest culprit. any boost over 17.5 can throw an overboost condition and cause the car to go into limp mode. to reset it, take the negative off your battery for at least 10 seconds and then reattach.

signs: no power at all past 3k rpm and lower boost than normal. plus a good ole check engine light. can't remember what the code is exactly but you can do a search on this site. to check to see what code it is, you can do it by turning your key to the ACC mode from the OFF position 3 times like this, OFF-ACC-OFF-ACC-OFF-ACC. you have to do it kind of fast but if you do it to fast it won't work either. the way i do it is to put the key in and each time i turn it to ACC i wait till i hear the fuel pump kick on and then turn it back off quickly.

overboost and a number of other things can cause limp mode. like he said ^, start by checking the codes and go from there

P0633-SKIM KEY NOT PROGRAMMED IN PCM

that is not good. you need to get this fixed ASAP. did you steal this car? lol..jk. you need to get your skim key programmed into your PCM otherwise you will have a locked up car and won't be able to drive it. it is basically an anti-theft device that locks everything down if the supplied key isn't the correct one, i.e. the proper key but wrong encryption. can't remember where, but there are steps that you can follow to program your skim key to your PCM so that it doesn't lock your car down.

no.... that code only shows up when you get the ecu flashed while it isnt in the car. for example.... flight systems will flash an ecu with your vin and then send it to you. the cel will light up showing that its the skim key code. if you had the ecu flashed in the car and now all of a sudden the code is appearing, something else is causing the computer fault and you will have to plug into the car and figure out what it is. this could be the reason for the limp mode. but again it could also not
