Never say I drive an "SRT not a Neon" cause then that just shows how ignorant you are. Every Decent Sport Compact started as some shitty econo box. Lancer, Imprezza, Civic, 3, Caliber.
"It's Still a Neon."
"Yes, it is.. I never said it wasn't, so whats you're point?"

or if they said they have a lancer, nobody cares.
but "STi" and "evo" is what they call it. they are just "hopped" up imprezas and lancers.
The only part of the body is different is the design of the front and rear bumper and the additon of the SideSkirts. The wing is a bigger version of the SXT-R/T wing. Oh then the Hood. The Scoop is there to take cooler air across the turbo.
Different Suspension? Ok.. Different Struts and a Smaller rear sway and larger front sway over normal neons, but all the other components are the same,
Different Brakes... hm... the fronts are different, the rears are almost identical.
Yes the Engine is different. And so is the Transaxle. But all the Mounts are the same design
The only differences in the interior are the seats and guages, everything else is typical Neon.
The Neon SRT-4, Is more Neon than you think it is.
... And who cares what other people think when you tell them what you drive.. If you're looking for attention from the car you drive, you have alot of growing up to do.

I tell people I drive a Neon. I love telling guys in their Mustangs, 'Vettes (older), P/U's, Civics. It's great, I've made some money off the shit heads. We'll start talking about racing, I'll say I'm game, and they ask what I got...............Oh, it's a Neon . Never fails, they laugh and I take the money.
usually when i get asked what i drive, i tell them a SRT4. most of the poeple i hang out with know what it is, and then they want to go for a ride. its also funny how they all start talking about the SRT and they all mention that they want one cause they have the potential to be really fast, for cheap. Then a new freind will show up and ask "whos SRT ACR is that?" I'll tell them its mine and they give me props. then i say "it's just a neon."

+1
I used to drive a first gen Neon...i dont care what people say. I usually tell people its a Neon SRT-4 just because no one knows what the hell an SRT-4 is.
Nothing wrong with Neons, the first gen ACRs were badass for autox
edit: PS, how many times are people going to start a thread like this??

That is exactly right Mox.
I was hoping someone would say it.
I also get the question. Is it fast? I just tell them Its a Neon SRT-4. and to me. No , its not fast, but ive been driving it for awile and Im use to it.
It's good to see your crowd takes it light-hearted. You'd have to have a mass suicide watch/counseling session if everyone yelled that 911's are just glorified VW Beetles, lol.

I love telling people what I drive. Some of my buddies were hangin out at the gas station the other night. He has a Mustang Cobra (non supercharged). He said he was dying to race someone so I was like I will race you let me run home and get my other car real quick. I said I only race for money though. He said well what do you have. I told him a dodge neon and he fell on the pavement laughing. I ended up walkin away $50 richer at the end of that night.

Actually, there are many things that differ from a regular neon. Just get a shop manual, you will see. Things like a k-member, of course the clutch and tranny, and the entire brake system amongst the other things already mentioned.... Many parts cribbed from other platforms - but professionally cribbed, mind you. Regardless, I love it when people say that it is just a Neon. I reply, "of course, that's what makes it so special". If it were a $50,000 car, then the performance would just be typical of the genre.
Think about it. What most people pay for when they buy a car is performance of some type. If you are not into trucks or 4 wheeling, then you will measure performance by acceleration, braking, handling, and perhaps gas mileage. The more expensive cars typically achieve numbers that are higher than the cheaper ones, (even in regard to gas mileage - think hybrids) but especially in regards to acceleration.
The SRT4 just breaks that mold, and that ticks many people off, because it isn't supposed to happen that way, and it makes their added vehicluar investment look rather foolish. In other words, they paid much more to achieve similar or lesser performance. So, to justify the added expense, they look to "cachet" or "luxury" or some other rather subjective measure to justify the extra cost of their ride.
So, basically, the fact that the SRT4 is just a Neon only makes it more of an incredible car, doesn't it? Because it still gets decent gas mileage, seats 5, and is cheap to own and operate and modify too!
lol, when I 1st got the car with S2 and a Borla cat back people would always ask what kind of car it was and I ALWAYS said, "SRT4" After the S3 build up and 400whp later when people would ask what kind of car, is it fast ect. it's just a neon
smae thing here after he stg3 build its a neon ,.....lol i had a guy whiel i was at advance buyin a bettery cuz mine took a hike, ask me if mine was the 2.0 24v im like WHAT? lol i want the 4 banger 24v LOLZ hes like i want to compare alternators lol, im like have fun seeing it back there....guy was an idiot, im like the 2.0 has it in the same spot!, hes like not on the 24v ..hahha. im like go home dude, so he climbs into his busted ass venture minivan with no hub caps and different color fenders lol
