I did a search to see if I could find something else but I couldnt. I just picked up a 2004 stage 2 srt4. As far as the gas tank goes even when the gas light comes on I can't put more then 8 gallons into the car. The owners manual says it has a 12 gallon tank. I highly doubt that the resivoir is 1/4 of the tank! So the only two things I can think of is, either the gas gauge is messed up or the float inside the tank is messed up.
Trust me with gas prices as high as they are and putting premuim in the tank I am not complaining about the car only taking 8 gallons but it does kind of suck having to fill up all the damn time! any suggestions guys?
I don't know exactly what it's called but it sounds like the sensor thing that reads how much gas you have might be broke. I've heard of this before and seen a couple other threads about it(getting bent out of place or something?).

once the light turns on , you should be able to do about another 50 miles. If you let your tank get low enough, the gas light will start to blink. alot of people have issues with the tank not truely filling up, and their able to but another 1-2 gallons in. what kind of mileage are you getting?
My warning light comes on when the computer "thinks" there is 1.5 gallons left.. and it flashes when it "thinks" there is 0 left. (scangauge) I have yet to run out of gas,.. or even have the car stumble. BUT, I am on the prowl for fuel when I am getting close to less than 1 gallon.
The ECU sends the signal to turn the low fuel light on when the sensor reads 1.5 gallons left in the tank. When the sensor reads 0.0 gallons left, the light starts to blink. I've gone 20 miles with the blinking light, I was basically determined to reach the 93 octane pump before I would stop.
The 1.5 and 0.0 gallon signals are confirmed if you use a scan gauge, in my case the Aeroforce Tech gauge.
NOW, this doesn't mean that there is only 1.5 gallons left in the tank, there could be a problem with the sending unit, the tank could be damaged, there are a variety of reasons why you can't seem to get more than 8 gallons in the tank.

when i look at my scangauge it confuses the heck outta me about how much gas i got. i put in 5 gallons and the scan gauge goes up 7 gallons. ive never put more than 10 gallons in it. i thought it was a 10 gallon tank + fuel lines with a 12 gallon sensor in it.

I don't ever like to run that low. The fuel helps keep the fuel pump cool, so I would not like to run it low enough to have it almost dry.
And this happens to me all the time. I calculate my MPG and I get about 29-30 mixed driving. Then I fill up, the pump clicks, and when I get in the car the tank is still missing some fuel up top (not full, supposedly). Weird shit since I have never had to fill up more than 8 gallons.

X2...I hate it when the light goes on. Even if I have 50 miles or so left, I get nervous hearing that fuel pump groan when the gas gets low and the pump is not immersed in fuel anymore. Also I don't want the pump to suck up any debris.
