Default This Car Is So Discouraging

I have a nail in one tire and have to leave it because i dont have money to fix it, not leaking so im not worried, I had to get a winter tire on one side because it went flat and the old tire was splitting so i wasnt able to replace it. I have this omfg sooo annoying vaccum/boost leak and dont know where its coming from. Exhaust leak, oil coming from cold side rubber hose. Just so much little stuff before i can actually do anything worthwhile. \

/end rant

Have the tire patched should only cost $20, if its fixable.
Do a boost leak test.
Track down the exhaust leak at the shop that patches your tire.
Get a catch can for the "oil leak" at the coldside.

End.

I bought a DIY tire plug kit from my local auto parts store for $12.
I can put in 10 plugs with it before buying refills.

My wife has caused usage of 3 of them already.

Oil from the cold side pipe is no big deal so don't sweat it.
The rest... welcome to ownership of an inexpensive high performance vehicle.

lol. i know it just sucks so many little problems before i can start to do anything and to add to the rant my check engine light just flashed at me. I know its on cuz of my exhaust leak and overboost but it flashing at me i know isn't good, idk if its the vacuum leak causing it or what. I know its a vacuum/boost leak cuz i get a hiiiiigh pitched whining and the other day i had hanging rpms but now they stopped its so weird.

PHAN10M - whats up! I have the answer/fix to all your probs...........

Well i know you have been wondering what that high pitch whining noise is at WOT and its because of that ebay exhaust, ive seen it a few times before so get something better to get rid of it. If u though the noise was because of the boost leak its not, if u can boost and HOLD a certain psi then you don't have a bad leak, if the needle goes to like 15 psi and "shakes" or jumps around then u have a leak. Oil out the cold side is normal its just "blow by" oil, if i remember your car had a catch can on it though, so make sure that is not filled up with oil. Then i wouldn't boost over 17psi on stock pcm/ fuel system you will just get over boost codes or pop/hurt the motor. what r your plans for the future??? big turbo?

Yai figured out the exhaust i love it but i still want a 3"o2 and a 3" dp so it might go away when i do those. To add on to the discouragement

Im throwing:

2096 - most likely because of my exhaust leak i know i have one because i can smell it from the bay when i accel. and i can also hear it

0234 - overboost, not to worried

0301 - just thrown today, i should be getting a paycheck soon to where i can get new plugs and wires. Im going to go with NGK Spark Plugs nice and cheap for 30$ and Granatelli wire set for measly 47.99$ hopefully that'll fix me right up

as for future im trying to get all this basic shit squared away. Now im debating whether to get a winter beater or just keep getting my paychecks and fixing these stupid problems or save for the beater then save again for the little problems.

If you can't afford to put the right parts on it, leave it stock. Or get used to having problems. It sounds like you need a new job, or a less expensive car that you don't won't want to mod.

PS...Don't spend $30 for spark plugs. NGK 4306s from Napa or another local parts store should be around $10.

Fixing your issues will be way cheaper than buying a beater and having to fix that. That stuff you got is easy enough to fix. Just get some good all season tires and don't waste money on mods that you can't afford to have.

Don't waste your money on those wires. They are garbage.

Granatelli plugs, Yey or ney?
Read Blackbird R/T's post towards the end and you'll see what I mean. I had a huge problem with spark blowout and I think the wires were the problem.

That is why you are having the problems that you are having.

Seriously though, I see you are from Chicago and I know there are plenty of experts there on our cars. A good community to help out goes a long way in making the right decisions about your car. Don't be afraid to run things past them. I bet there isn't a mod out that a CSC guy hasn't run.

cool thanks a lot guys for the help. and with the 301 code 1st cylinder misfire it only happened once where my CEL was flashing but it seems fine now. I dont have time this week to work on anything due to car payemtn and insurance due. Is it really that bad to drive on it for another week or so? Also idk how to gap spark plugs or how to install them properly if i were to buy them from auto zone or napa.

p.s. phins u ever go to Fry's Electronics? thats the only reason why i know where fishers is because thats our sister store here in downers grove, il lol
