Default Best Oil To Use ???

Ok i have been using Mobil 1 syntactic but people have told me syntactic oil finds oil leaks and or makes them because how thin the oil is. Whats the best oil to use. Friend of mine has an srt4 look identical and runs penzoil on his that isnt syntactic. So someone please help me out

your friend isnt very smart.

only use synthetic oil on this car.

mobil1 is my choice. Viscosity depends on weather.

Synthetics have detergents in them that will find buildups of conventional caked oil... and erode those buildups.... which could cause leaks.

5w30 in synthetic is the same viscosity and everything as 5w30 in conventional.

And to answer your last question... Asking what the best oil is.. is like asking what is the best sex position... You're only going to get people's opinions.

imo, Royal Purple 5w30 is the best.. Only cause I can get a 5g drum of it for $90. Otherwise I'd be sporting mobil1's fully synthetics.

use synthetics. you want the oil to withstand hot spots in the motor. most conventional oils dont have the HT/HS needed to withstand use in turbo applications. synthetics also have high flashpoints, which is desired.

Mobil1 0w40
Amsoil 0w30,5w30,10w30, 5w40
Redline 5w30, 10w30
German Castrol Syntec 0w30<--says "made in Germany" on the back of the bottle. this oil is almost a 0w40 with a high HT/HS. good oil

over on the oil forums, the (GC)german castrol is highly recommended for turbo applications. it always shows great used oil analysis reports. It is farely cheap also. Autozone is running a special on it for 5 quarts and a Mobil1 filter for $25.99, limit 2 per customer per day. I have already bought up 20 quarts and 4 filters and plan to get another 10 quarts and 2 filters today. normal price is $6.39 a quart and $10.99 per filter

you can go back to synthetics. you want a 0w30 or 5w30. the xW stands for pumpabilty when cold. the lower the #, the better on start-up. the 20,30,40,50 ect. has to fall with-in respective range for that viscosity. it is recommended to use a thicker 30 weight, or a thin 40 weight. the german castrol is a thick 30 weight and falls just under a 40 weight. Mobil1 has been proven to sheer down into the 20weight range in most forced induction engines. our motors are hard on oil.

my suggestion would be a 0w30 or 0w40 in all climates with our motors.

your 10w30 will be fine, but it just wont have the best flow at start-up, which we want. alot of people think that the 0w oils are water thin, they are wrong. any oil is thick when cold, but the 0w will flow the best when cold, so you will get oil pumping thru the motor as fast as possible.

if you look at the chart below you will see the cSt @100 column. mobil1 10w30 is a 10.6 on the column. the german castrol is a 12.1, making it almost a 40weight. all xW30 weights have to fall with-in the 30weight range.

the 40 cSt column is when the oil is cold. you will see that the 5W is in the 20 range

My husband and I both run Royal Purple 5w30 in our SRT-4's. But in my first SRT-4 I used Mobile 1, which was also awesome!

OMG wallmart is the shit. I just did my oil and changed it with the quaker state high horsepower synthetic. I was just gonna use the mobil one but they didnt have 10w-30 and the quaker state was actually cheaper. Only $18 for the oil change plus filter. The back said superb performance for turbo and supercharged cars so i figured id give it a shot.

Redline
Mobile one there is some argument if its really 100% synthetic anymore after losing the court case against Castrols synthetic (which is not syntehtic either, unless it specifically is the made in germany stuff)
