Chevy performance ZZ series motors (ZZ3 and ZZ4 these days) Drop right into those Vettes. They put down 330 and 355 at the crank respectivly. with 380ft/lbs on the ZZ3 and 418 ft/lbs on the ZZ4. IF he went that route it's for sure a drivers race, but you should have the edge.

The 700r4 and the driveline on the C3's = about 25% loss. so even if he got a 400 HP motor he is only putting 300 to the ground.

Only one way to find out!

100% He probably didn't even upgrade the gears in the rear end either ..... which is just dumb since the gears then were like 2.73's lol

Didn't see he was modded, depends on how well planned his mods are I guess, those are still V8's, could get nasty power from a good build up. Run and find out, just don't go pinks, lol!

Some literature lists it at 240hp... probably to keep it "ahead" of the Buick T-Type / GN which was rated at 235hp in 1986 (and was faster than the almighty 'vette) which upset a lot of people at Chebby.

Not too hard to make 300+ with a simple rebuild on the L98, esp if he added some goodies like a cam, so it could be a good run...

All in all 80's cars blow and are slow even then Vettes compared to modern cars, except for GNX that is those are still just bad ass.

It wouldn't be close at all (If it's basically stock). I smacked the crap out of a C4 with a S2, 2.5" exhaust, and a short ram intake on my ride at the time.
