Default 1986 corvette

Just wondering if 300-320 hp will beat a 86 vette. I race him before, he was stock and all i had was exhaust and cai and i beat him.

But he just got his engine rebuilt, and he put an aftermarket cam as far as I know, ill try to post more on his mods, when i find out more.

But is 300-320 enough to beat him, I dont know what kind of cam he got put in, probably nothing heavy duty.

Just want some opinions, thanks

shouldn't have a problem, if you really are pushing those hp levels. late c3 and early c4 vettes weren't anything special compared to today's performance specs.

As far as whose the better driver, im defiantly the better driver, car is also has the 700r4 auto tranny.

I am guessing he got his current engine rebuilt. You would beat him stock, he would need a Corvette with an LS1 to beat you...LOL

In 1986 they only had 230HP, I would think between power to weight and FWD efficiency that a stock srt-4 would take one. It would be real close, driver's race.

Didn't see he was modded, depends on how well planned his mods are I guess, those are still V8's, could get nasty power from a good build up. Run and find out, just don't go pinks, lol!

It does so with authority and poise, but while slipping relatively unnoticed through traffic, never being violent, or dare I say it, frightening. When you ask the SRT-4 to take you somewhere fast, it punches you in the face, throws you over its shoulder, and runs, screaming, so quickly that its tires can barely keep up."

If he had the motor rebuilt with stock internals, stock exhaust and just this cam, the most hes going to make is 300hp. The 700R4 Trans is a good trans for that time period but it's a slow shifting auto. I would say 300-320 whp should take him but like someone else said it could also be a drivers race.

I had a built 331 stroker motor: forged internals, .600 lift cam, race heads, race intake, race carb and made 400whp.

depending on how he built it up, if he built the original l98 then hes a fool...if he dropped a 4th gen or crate motor in there you night be in trouble.
