I want a real logical answer here... but after a work out, Aside from some of you little bigger guys, how much protein do you REALLLLY need? And why do you feel protein suppliments are so beneficial in the american diet? Also on a high protein diet, how much lean tissue do you think your actually producing? Or better yet... WHAT IS WHEY?

I know the answers, I just wanna know yours FROM SOCIETY!!! some of you guys studying this in college, just sit back and let the buyers answer.

I didn't log into this forum today to put any of you down, I'm just trying to be helpful cause the arrogance in the exercise world with the uneducated is kinda eh...as bad as the car world lol

My son, who just turned 12 is interested in getting into some light weight training. My biggest concern is that he is still growing and i don't want to do any damage to his growth plates.

Right now he is 5' 6 1/2" and 140 pounds. He just wants to add some upper body strength....I was thinking of sit up and push ups...along with some very light weights.

Opinions and inputs are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
