So some of you know of my oscillating vacuum at idle, bouncing between 10-14 rapidly. After looking for vacuum leaks and not finding any, redoing my injectors, plus, wires and coil. I have pretty much come to the conclusion of a leaky valve or busted valve guide allowing vacuum to leak into the cylinders. After resetting the ecu the car runs good for about 10 minutes then have the idle problem, also at part throttle say 30%, from idle to about 3000rpm the car runs shitty like its misfiring then clears up after 3000. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated at this point:ben:

I thought I had a TPS problem so I replaced the sensor and rewired the plug. Needless to say now I'm out 100 bucks and my car is still hanging rpms and idling at 1000 rpms rough as hell. I was getting a misfire code also. Usually at idle the cel light blinks and you can tell the idle is really rough, but when driving is goes away.

Any other ideas before I take it to the stealership? I'm about done swapping parts either way.:crying:

So I got a call from the shop and they told me that my SRT-4 had broken a rod. The reason it had happened was that my SRT-4 went through a giant puddle and sucked up water into the engine. What should I do? The vehicle is covered under my insurance so I can pay my deductible and have it all fixed.

Now should I fix the rod? get a new engine? do a rebuild kit? or any other suggestions on it. I want to later on try and push the car to 400+ horsepower down the road.

Bad gas or electrical problem???

So the other day I went and filled up my 05 Stage 2 srt 4 at an ESSO (Which I don't normally do). I went through the car wash and left.

I drove for a bit and then shut off my car and noticed that it had a bit of run on. It ran for a few seconds then died.

Then when I started the car later I noticed my guages didn't come on and the check engine light was on. This happened a few times on the day it happened (2 days ago) but hasent happened since. I also noticed that sometimes, when I turn my key forward, the 100 octane switch comes on by itself. I put some water remover into my tank thinking the run on might be from some bad gas. It hasent helped.

So for the last 2 days I've been driving it easy trying to burn some of the gas off before I topped it up with some 94. So today I'm at about half tank. I start the car and everything works fine. No check engine light or anything. I drove to the gas station shut the car off and it shut off perfectly normal....

So I topped it up with some 94 and started it up again and noticed the check engine light was on again.... So I figured I'd shut it off and see if I got anymore run on and of course, I did.

It seems like when I shut the car off now it starts to shut off then the engine goes back to idle again then dies. kinda dips then revs up again then dies.

Any clue if this sounds like possibly an electrical problem with the ignition? Possibly some water from the carwash screwing with things? Or could it be gas or what???

So i was driving my car on the highway in 5th gear, and i started to accelerate to pass someone. i was about half throttle and the boost started to build and than i heard a loud back fire from my engine bay. So i pull over and to no suprise all the vacum lines popped off. I put them all back on and the idle went back down to normal. When i get back in the car i notice my vacum is fluctuating between 18,17,16. it normally holds at 19 20 at idle. so i start driving the car and over all it just doesnt feel right. i notice every time i take off i leave a big puff of white smoke from the exhaust behind me and if i put the car in neutral the rpms stay at 2000 till i come to a stop and than they slowly go down to an uneven idle. When i get home i pop the hood and take off the oil cap and there is a little smoke coming out of the oil cap hole on the valve cover and it smells like there is gas mixed in with my oil. Also i took out all of my spark plugs and there was some white smoke coming out of cylinder number 2. Right now im thinking blown head gasket??? But whats throwing me off from that is i dont see any coolant in my oil nor do i smell coolant burning from my exhaust. Any one have any idea if this could be a head gasket or something else???

Bad Pulley on 03 NSRT4

I found a pulley on Lucilles 03 NSRT4 that had been making a hell of a lot of noise lately.

This picture shows what pulley I am talking about circled in red.
Image: http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac255/juniormt2/pulley.jpg

When the car started it up, it started making the noise, and then the motor hiccups like it wants to die, and then it corrects itself and the noise stops. I then with WD40 sprayed on each pulley. I started with the top, no noise, and my mother and i agreed last night it might be the very bottom pulley. I sprayed that, and no noise.

I then saw the pulley in the middle closest to the firewall, sprayed that, and sure enough, instant screeching, and the car would pick up rpm, and then correct itself almost stalling, and then begin to idle normal.

So my question is, where could I pick up this pulley new. The car no longer has the A/C in it, and I believe we have gotten our pulleys/belts/etc, from S&P/thepowertowin but I do not see their section as a vendor.

Any input would be great. Thanks!

I looked in the fuse box and none of the fuses appear to be blown. I was just wondering what could cause that given that it was fine last time i drove it, and all its done is sit there since.
Ok, I just bought this car not even a week ago and I'm noticing small little problems. It's a 2004 and it's got just under 30k on it. Here's my questions/problems...

First, my boost gauge will spike 10psi and then drop to 7-8 by redline. Supposedly the car is stock aside from an intake. I've been readin around here and asked a few people I know and they all say that stock the car should be boosting around 14psi. So, I'm losing half my boost and I have a small theory as to where. Which brings me to my next issue. When under WOT and the car builds its boost, I hear a whistly kind of noise and I know it's not just the air moving through the charge pipes cuz it doesn't start until about 4000-5000 rpm.

Also, I'm not too familiar with the boost gauge in this car but I've also noticed that some ppl on here have made mention of it resting at 0 when the car is turned off. Is it supposed to go to 0 after you shut down the engine? Cuz mine stops around 9 vac, never makes it to 0. I don't know if this is normal or if maybe I have a bad gauge. Because, even with the boost leak I'm experiencing, the car still seems to pull like a mother. So I'm not totally convinced that I'm leaking over half my boost. I know I need to do a leak test, but I can't get my hands on a tester just yet. I have a good friend that has one but he loaned it to his cousin and I'm waiting for him to get it back.

Is it possible that my boost leak problem is related to the factory BOV leaking or could it maybe be the wastegate? I plan on replacing both eventually, but I'm not exactly the most familiar when it comes to SRT's. Also, am I going to cause any damage to the car with it boosting so low compared to where it's supposed to be?

Car idles fine at 8-900rpm. Im vacuum jumps up and down from 10-14 at idle. Car sounds shitty. Drives good but not as good as it did. Am getting p0171(system lean 1/1) Ive changed ignition and injectors and cam sensor. Thinking its either map sensor, or o2 sensor. If i reset the pcm the car runs good for about 10 minutes than starts idling bad again, cant be a leak cause it would start right away. So leads me believe its a sensor...Any help is much appreciated been dealing with this for a week and a half or so.

** I have done my research**ok so some of you may have read this before but i have done new things and still the same thing. problem here is vac is kinda jumpy but at times it will jump from 18 to almost 8 sounding like it wants to die when i notice this problem the lights inside seem to dime i give a big rev and seems to go away but comes back once in a while. things i have done to fix: new spark plugs gaped, new spark plugs wires, new valve cover gasket, head gasket because their was oil in my spark plugs and new intake manifold gasket. not tps because it doesnt stick on a certain rpm idle sits at a good 850 but vac is only the issue now i came across this line from the firewall that isnt plugged into anything i have read a vac diagram and dont seem to know were this goes into please help any input well be appreciated oh and current mods are cai, exhaust and thats it.
