You have to manually focus, but it does have a live face recognition (to which i'm still unsure how to get it to work properly). I am getting better at taking video with it, but it can be a pain sometimes. I'm sure if i read up more i could utilize it better. There are training videos out there and some info to read up on.

Let me know if you want to know anything specific. I am unsure about the old 35mm cam lenses. Yes, canon has expensive lenses, but that's because that's what canon excels in. If you want flash control, go nikon.
