what you hear is not compressor surge but compressor stack. Its actually pretty common and does not really harm the turbo. I run a filter directly off the turbo and its a LOT more noticeable since the intake doesnt muffle it ( think open headers). However, if you want to get rid of it the synapse BOV will do that.
Comrpessor surge is when you hear that "flutter" your talking about when its floored and im not talking about when you let off. Your WOT and its fluttering while your accelarating. BAD BAD BAD for the turbo.

But, eventually, down the road, I may opt for the Synapse BOV. In the meantime, I'll stop worrying so much!
