I hear ya man,
I used to think the same thing. I picked up 3 mph consistantly
with the pipe opened. I think the difference was the race gas, 110 octane + open downpipe = faster trap speeds.
also Needs Wings suggest you let the car run for about 2 mins for the PCM to adjust.
