No, you can use your stock solenoid for internal or external gate setups. We are only putting together the kit for people who either don't have their stock solenoids anymore or don't want to use them.
There may be a performance benefit to using the aftermarket solenoids instead of the stock solenoids, but it might only be at very high boost levels. The stock solenoid seems to work fairly well, from what I can tell.
