You need to spend at least $2000 in upgrades before big turbo to make it worth it. This is what you should do with approximate prices and all being new (no discount) parts for a big turbo setup and will net you about 300whp or more in the end on the stock turbo:
- Full 3in exhaust - approximately $700
- Wideband (zeitronix or Innovate) $300-$400
- Diablosport tuner - $300-$400
- Fuel Pump Re-Wire (depending if you make yourself or buy PTP)- $20-$80 *don't have to do this but def helps
- Walbro Fuel Pump - $100
- Injectors (650cc-750cc) - $250-$300
- Hard Pipes with BOV - $400
- Intercooler (Direct fit or Big) - $400-$500
- CAI $200-$300
- BIG TURBO!!!!
I know this def bigger then your budget of $2000 and there are also the unlisted costs such as install if you can't do it yourself and tuning. The list is what i would do (this is a solid base for the big turbo of course there are always more things you can do), of course you can cut corners or buy some used parts but i am building mine up slowly and to be easy to manage and reliable. After you get these mods you can go either upgraded stock turbo, upgraded stock turbo and mani, or big turbo kits like the 20g/16g, AGP Delta, etc. There are also other things like putting the power to the ground (motor mounts, coilovers/suspension, wheels and tires, etc.) and a clutch will be needed eventually with all the extra HP you will be putting down. Modding is expensive but damn it is addictive and there many options. Happy modding
