i had a set of Eibach Pro kits on mine, it was a good drop, maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap between tire and fender. no rubbing issues with stock rims and wider-than-stock tires.
dropped on stock struts with no major issues. car rode/handled good....but when i'd hit a big pothole or bump in the road there would be one loud THUD...
i'd suggest aftermarket struts with the springs, it'll be a different feel as well.
but your stock's should be fine.
