I could never see myself using any type of touchscreen for gaming. Tactile feedback plays a HUGE rule in the minutae of character/precision control, at least it does for me. If you don't get any feedback from what your hands are doing, you're a lot more likely to lose your orientation more often.
Remember, most true gamers don't look at their controls when they are using them. They navigate by feel, and thats one of the reasons individual keys on a keyboard stand out.
Now if you are using touchscreen to interact with what you are viewing, you are much less likely to lose orientation. But that's not very practical in gaming.
