P0441-EVAP PURGE SYSTEM PERFORMANCE [thepowertowin]
When Monitored: Cold start test. Engine Running. Small Leak Test Passed.
Set Condition: The PCM activates the EVAP Purge solenoid gradually increases to maximum flow. During flow, the PCM looks for the NVLD switch to close. If the PCM does not see the NVLD switch close at maximum flow an error is detected. Two Trip Fault.
So what does this mean? Basically when your purge solenoid opens, it puts vacuum onto the rest of the emissions system/gas tank, etc. There is a little diaphragm controlling a switch in the system. If the system holds pressure, it will pull the diaphragm, and ultimately close the switch.
So what this means is either the purge isn't opening to pull vacuum to the system. (doubtful) or more likely it's between 2 things. There is either a leak in the system. (visual test will be hard to find. Usually at the dealer we use an EELD machine to check flow, and have the ability to run smoke through the system) OR you are looking at the NVLD switch not being any good. (The system would be pulling the diaphragm w/o a change in switch position.) The dealer is the best equipped to fix this for you
