In California, meanwhile, the mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom, took a different approach. Soon after the Massachusetts justices handed down their decision, Newsom began granting marriage licenses to nearly 4,000 same-sex couples who lined up outside City Hall. Those certificates were invalidated a few months later by the state Supreme Court, which ruled that he didn't have the authority to issue them, citing a state law, Proposition 22, passed in 2000 by more than 60 percent of voters, which defined marriage as between a man and a woman.

he went against the majority vote and state law by implementing something other than the wishes of the people. further, when told by the courts that he could not issue marriage certificates, he continued to do so. a man who has no regard for the will of the people.

Mayor Gavin Newsom vowed Sunday to maintain San Francisco as a sanctuary for immigrants and do everything he can to discourage federal authorities from conducting immigration raids.

The mayor cannot stop federal authorities from making arrests, Newsom told about 300 mostly Latino members of St. Peter's Church and other religious groups supporting immigrants. But no San Francisco employee will help with immigration enforcement.

"I will not allow any of my department heads or anyone associated with this city to cooperate in any way shape or form with these raids," Newsom declared. "We are a sanctuary city, make no mistake about it."

not only does he not mind having illegal aliens in the country, he has no problem employing them and doing all he can to violate federal laws in the process. a man who has no regard for the law

he wants to institute universal healthcare for californians, benefiting those who do not have healthcare (a large percentage do not work or are illegal) at the expense of those of us who do work. a man with no regard to fiscal responsibility

Voters approved ballot measures to ban handguns in San Francisco and urge the city's public high schools and college campuses to keep out military recruiters.

The gun ban prohibits the manufacture and sale of all firearms and ammunition in the city, and makes it illegal for residents to keep handguns in their homes or businesses.

newsom is proud of the fact that he was able to encourage his city to vote against the right to own firearms. under his encouragement it was illegal to even purchase ammunition within city borders. there were also cases of police getting warrants and confiscating weapons from peoples homes. a man who has no regard for the constitution

that sounds like a step in the right direction. he is exactly what we need as a state
