factory speaker wiring in the car is plenty sufficient for running a simple 4 channel. Any degradation due to extra resistance in wire would be so minimal you wouldn't be able to tell. Having said that, if you really want to go the extra mile and plan on getting the best sound that you can out of your car, run new 16AWG (or larger) wire to each speaker and solder all connections.
