The threads you speak of are there for a reason, they are like grip rings that provide added grip to the shift rod making it virtually impossible to pull the ball off when the set screw is tightened, i actually refer to them as grip rings since they are not a real thread at all, at least it won't thread on to anything i know of..lol...anyways im glad to have another happy customer
