If you've ever pulled one off, the oil passage is not that big, or far off from the bolt hole. I personally think, someone should use a strong aluminum casting the same size as the stock balance shaft assembly. The only machine work would be the stack height, 4bolt holes and the mating surfaces. Where the bedplate meets the shaft assembly. 4 new factory bolts, and your could rebolt on, and with some red anarobic sealer on the one feed foot, should seal & be money. The reason I say a cast aluminum, 2 reasons weight & the fact you have a big, light, strong, cast aluminum stud griddle, to retain the strenght factor. That's the best option out there, and the easiest way to do it, just like the factory. Let me know what you think of my idea.

Don't forget the clearence on the dipstick when making the casting.
