You could have just tee'd into the stock pump. If you pull the hose off, you can see that fluid just flows through it. Its the design of the stock windshield pump to flow water even when the pump is not running, then it just "pushes" through if the pump is on. Its what what I did on my STi, and it worked fine for over a year, 50/50 meth, never ate any seals or leaked once.
