Broken axle, for sure. It's going to be your passenger side axle, too! The fact that the speedo jumps when you let off the clutch in gear is a dead giveaway that your intermediate shaft is turning (that's where the speed sensor gets it's reading from). So, somewhere after the intermediate shaft, you've broken something. It could be, and is likely the axle, but the possibility of the end of the intermediate shaft being broken is there as well.
