Ok so I had my Intake mani powder coated and when i was putting it back on I think i cracked the manifold???? So I put permatex on the head, then put the plastic spacer/gasket on, then put permatex on the manifold and line it all up and put it on. So i put the top 3 bolts on and get them tight (didnt tq them because i didnt bring a in tq wrench, dumb i know). So im tightening the bolts down, nothing crazy just tight. then i noticed the left ear(hole for the bolt behind the thermo housing) has a crack in the powder coat ! Now when i bring this to the attention of the guy that hooked me up with the powder coating(V8 nation) he states the hole ear has to be cracked off for the powder coat to crack. Theres supposedly NO WAY this powder coat will crack....yea yea right. I will have pics up tonight but do you think i could have cracked that entire ear? I would figure the bolt would break long long before the manifold???
Any input please, im a big guy so im fairley strong but i know the difference between straight breaking a bolt tight and just tight...
just my .02 cents did you use a gasket other then the stock? If so i hope not they are trash and they are known for breaking the intake manifolds. There are only like 2 vendors that make a good one that fits right and they even send you new bolts longer in size to compensate for the space. DCR and I think Rage
