Nitrous will cause your cylinder pressure to peak much sooner, relative to crankshaft position, and therefore, you would want less timing.

I'm not going to go so far as to say it's impossible to hold HOM with N2O, as I've seen it happen.

But whether or not it's actually beneficial would have to be tested on a dyno or by trap speeds.

More timing is, obviously, not always better. If you are achieving peak cylinder pressures before you reach top dead center, or even at TDC, you'll sacrifice HP, even if you don't detonate. Ideally, you want your peak cylinder pressure around 15 degrees ATDC. That will create, in theory, the best results for power production.
