AEM Serial datastream gauge ??'s
First anyone have + or - comments for this gauge? Answers to this such as its great or its sucks is useless for me so if have time to post an answer make it worth my time to read by giving why.
I see that the gauge can can read oil and fuel pressures. So I would hook up the two sensors to the AEM EMS and then I would be able to read output on the display?
Oil and fuel pressure would be user definable inputs, correct? These would be added to the existing channels being monitored, correct?
The gauge will display one output/channel (say oil pressure), and the gauge is capable of giving a visual warning on all of the other non displayed channels, correct? On fault detection (or alarm trigger) the gauge switches to the channel giving the fault, correct?
How are the different channels displayed on the gauge, is it channel 1, 2, 3, 4, etc OR is it MAP, FIDC, BOOST, KNOCK, EGT etc...?
ADDED: which pressure sensors work well with this.....oil and fuel? I know thats theres a couple of different sensors out there. The full sweep sensors such as the ones that come with the Autometer gauges are nice but I know theres other sensors that can work well that cost less. I'm not against paying a little more for quality or performance but if theres a lower cost yet very effective solution I'm all ears.
A little background behind my questions and the thread. I was using the Aeroforce Dual Pro gauges with the optional oil and fuel pressure sensors. I liked how I was able to easily wire this up and keep somewhat of clean or non busy look with varying gauge looks from different manufactures.
I'm getting rid of the Aeroforce gauges now that I'm using the AEM EMS but I really would like to keep the ability to keep track of both fuel and oil pressures. I was thinking about getting two Mopar gauges from S&P but I still have the Aquamist DDS3 to consider as far as looks, the AEM gauge is a closer match to the DDS3 then the Autometers are. My thinking is that with the capabilities to otherwise use the AEM gauge in the same manner as the Aeroforce I will like the results, but as with other mods people feedback through use is important I do not see much said with regards to this gauge.
