I only play in the woods, sometimes in a clearing. I'm firing a Spyder Electra. It's an e-marker, up to 13 bps. I have a 16" barrel, it works pretty good for my needs.
If I am ever able to play more, I am going to convert it to low pressure and get the board that lets it shoot about twice as fast.
Buy your stuff online. I was laughing at my two friends that got their stuff at a local shop. One got a mechanical gun and the other got an earlier model e-marker, as well as all the gear they needed. I got a combo deal online where I picked out my gear. I got my gun and ALL accessories for the price that the gun cost at the store.
