There's two different topics here.
MS2 chip: This is an $85 processor upgrade for your megasquirt. You unplug the MS1 processor and plug in a daughter board that contains the new MS2 chip (along with other stuff like a 4-wire IAC motor controler, CAN interface, etc). This is a totally different 16 bit processor (as opposed to the 8-bit MS1 processor). The code this thing runs is ms2extra. The developers have written a decoder for the SRT-4 but nobody has tried it yet (as far as I know).
Also there is:
MS1/extra high-res version. This code simply installs on your current MS1 processor with no changes other changes (other than tuning). It gives you higher injector pulse width resolution but you lose the ability to control low impedance injectors (so you have to use a injector resitor box or the "pwm board"

Thanks for clearing it up. I mainly want to upgrade to have the 16x16 feature so the tune can be more precise instead of how it is now. I am assuming with all the benefits that come with the MS2 its better to just pay the $85 and go that route. With the MS2 as you said comes with a new board with the chip already in it so all I have to do is unplug the MS1 Processor and plug this in. The additional things such as CAN(dont know what that is), and the 4-wire IAC motor controller I am assuming are things that "need" to be done as well with the MS2 upgrade correct? I dont really like my car being down, but its been down for 6 months straight before waiting for parts. So since I have another car I figure why not upgrade...get what "needs" to be installed so I can get it running again and I will be happy. As far as tuning it to make it run correctly and having a good tune I will just pay for it to be dyno tuned. I just want to make sure when I get this new board that I dont miss anything in addition to the board with the ms2 processor so nothing gets fried or freaks out. Since I got my unit from RS should I just build a whole new one or is it easy to swap this stuff out? I am guessing this ruins my warrenty(not sure if i even got one) with RS, but whatever. My main concern is just making sure its done right the first time....would hate to ruin it ya know.
