There is a NO ESP module you can buy for $50 that quickly takes care of turning ESP completely off using the factory switch. This is more so for the R/T's as I'm pretty sure the newer SRT's can be turned off with the factory switch anyway.
Just as murfman said, there is finally tuning coming out now that can take care of the shifting issues, and Mopar makes a replacement TCM which solves it as well. Granted it would be nice if they were better from the factory, but these things can easily be corrected.
I don't know of many (if any) comparable sedans that give you the kind of performance you get, for the price, that the SRT8's do.
