Higher wattage gives a higher risk of damaging the lighting system. I am not saying this is what is going to happen just it has a much greater probability. The higher wattages increases the heat in the wiring harness which could damage it. There will also be increased heat at the base of the lamp, potentially damamging the housing and also more heat in the fixture damaging the reflector or plastic front.

The higher wattage is also not street legal. Federal rules say you can not have higher wattage for use on the street because the system is not designed for it, hence you are increasing light in oncoming traffics field of vision. It may benefit you as the driver but not everyone else around you that might feel blinded by the increased light.
