I had the same problem, I made my own relay harness last winter. I tried multiple ways to make everything work like stock, the only solution I found was to trigger the hid's on with the high beams, it takes the factory DRL relay/controller out of the equation. It won't work unless you plug in a stock bulb as a dummy, i snapped off the high beam pin so the bulb wouldn't turn on.

It's like the dummy bulb acts as a resistor or something. It wouldn't work on low beams though. this should work for anyone using a single low beam retro.
