I have a Canadian car, and i had the same trouble. With the car off everything seems to work good. Turn the car on and the HID's turn on regardless of the headlight switch.
From my memory with the car running they would function normally if i had a 9007 bulb pluged into the stock socket. didn't like that solution.
All i did was run a wire from the relay to a switch that i put in my center console, not what i wanted to do, but thats all i could figure out to do for now.
Would love to find out a way to use the stock headlight switch
