I'm not POSITIVE, but I think the box is required if it is anywhere inside your passenger compartment. If it was in the back of a pickup (for example) I don't think you need a box, but for the trunk of a car with fold down seats, that is considered the passenger compartment. You can get boxes at Advanced. Just look into the legality of it first.

only problem is i heard those batteries suck in cold weather.
in cali (where it doesnt even really get below 55*), a local has a hard time starting his car in the mornings, and has to jump start his car.
any resolutions to fix that?
Yup....put an Optima battery in the trunk!
