it's not the width only that makes a tire fit or not, it's the width plus aspect ratio (sidewall height). a 235/40 needs an 8" wide wheel, a 235/45 needs a 7.5" wide wheel, and both fit on an srt-4 with stock suspension. A 235/50-17 can actually fit on a 6.5" wide rim, but is much too tall to fit on an SRT-4.
