A resonator is NOT a catalytic converter... and mechanics KNOW that. Moreover, it CANT be where the catalytic converter used to be. Your catalytic converter sits about 3 inches from your turbo, that resonator sits in the middle of your exhaust setup. You will NOT pass a visual emmissions test without a catalytic converter. Unless you know someone who says you took it off after he looked at it. Ya know what i mean. i know i live in pa and my state requires all that shit... i know like someone else said, the blow off valve isn't a big issue, no mechanic really cares about that, but you WILL NOT PASS A VISUAL EMMISSIONS TEST WITHOUT A CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
