Well, I've got some bad news and some GREAT news!
Went to get the car tuned for
HOM (100 oct) today at TT. Alfred is THE coolest tuner I've ever met. He was very informative, HONEST, and caring. He was on-time and they got my car strapped up in no time.
I asked for a base pass to see if my numbers were similar to my last tune. Afterall, I didn't change anything and I should've been in the same ballpark as the tune done last May by Shiv on the
same dyno.
base pass --->
274whp/280wtq WTF????
I was stunned to see my whp so low! I immediately wanted an explanation. The AFRs were off the chart low (below 10:1). Huh? I asked Alfred to bring up Shiv's runs from that dyno day. To my surprise, it was run #15 when he made 292whp/298wtq. The kicker is he ran the car
9 times after that and could never hit that whp mark!!! I saw 270s, 280s, 260s, etc.. you name it. The numbers were extremely inconsistant, so I don't know what the hell tuning map I had on the car other than this current base pass. If I ran that down the quarter-mile, no wonder I was down on trap speed..
It took Alfred - 5 tuning runs.. with whp gradually increasing with each run:
They were all pleased with the car with so little mods for an EVO 8 (Magan Headers, full TBE, boost controller)...
I guess now we can all be on the same playing field...
