Until we sell enough to make it feasible, we can't make two colors. The picture is quite an exaggeration. It's showing the display at peak brightness, which will only be available while you are actively changing settings. Most of the time it will dim down to a comfortable brightness. But, you do need that peak brightness to be able to see it in daylight.
Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it. I drove around with it last night and it was fine. I was more blinded by my open dash.
I had taken the dash apart apart to fish out the Toys wiring and test it... Of course, I didn't bother putting it back together before test driving the car.
